Every week we will be sharing an inspirational figure from Latin America, someone who we think you deserve to know about. Our aim is to spread the creativity and passion for their subject and hopefully inspire you as well ! This week we chose the Venezuelan photographer Alejandro Cegarra.
Born in Caracas, Veneuzela, photographer Alejandro Cegarra now lives in Mexico City and has been working for Associated Press, The New Yorker and Washington Post. These photographs are from one his personal projects ‘State of Decay’, documenting the downward spiral of his home country which went from one of the wealthiest nations in the region to one of the poorest, gripped by economic chaos and political instability.
“This is the slow motion collapse of Venezuela; a country that not so far away I used to call: home.”
(Alejandro Cegarra)
